Upon some people telling me about it, the other day I decided to pay a visit (or, uhm, a dinner, let's say) to Japanese restaurant Miyako.
The reason for this is because it has the craziest location I've ever seen in a Buenos Aires restaurant: fifth floor of a random building in an otherwise very empty avenue (O_O)
One time I was talking about how shops and restaurants located in buildings in Tokyo called my attention, my aunt said, "Oh, I know this one sushi place exactly like that!"
Compelled to know how Tokyo's restaurants and Miyako compared, I ventured forth.
Miyako is a traditionally modern place, lol, just like Tokyo. I admit I got really nostalgic when I went up the elevator because you hardly ever see restaurants on high floors in Buenos Aires, I mean, never.
The avenue it's located in is HORRIBLE. Granted, it's nothing like Ginza Sukiyabashi, hahahaha. The neighborhood is very dark and all the time we were wondering if they might just steal our car, even if we had left it in a private garage HAHAHA.
But all of the sudden, from within the darkness, the tallest freaking building emerges, with red and purple paper lights that can be seen from down below. That is Miyako.
It even had the typical "pallier entrance" Tokyo restaurants had and the little "doorbell" that calls the waitress to your table hahahaha.
Overall the food was DELICIOUS. They took a little too long with it for my taste, but I really can't say anything else negatively about the food. The menu was really extensive, too. They served shabu-shabu, tonkatsu, all sorts of curry rice, udon, and sushi. So it was like a little piece of Japan in Buenos Aires. My family said to me, "Oh, if you had known of its existence before maybe you wouldn't have to travel so far."
(¬¬); they don't understand, lol.
Tempura ebi (shrimp) rolls. Yum!
The other table we requested. Some fried rolls, salmon sashimi, geishas, ebi nigiri, salmon nigiri, tako sashimi.
We still were hungry after all this so we had another 25 pieces lol. My other three eating companions didn't let me take a picture of the last table, threatening to eat it all by themselves XD
Overall, I would definitely go back. We need to try the curry rice and see if it's as yummy as Eleven Imasa's, heheheh.
