Let's Japan - Part 2. Akihabara and Asakusa

More snow on this cold, grey Akihabara morning. We were finally there at the otaku paradise, and man am I glad I'm not such an otaku anymore. I would have gone crazy over the merchandise here. Luckily I controlled my instincts (and blew it all in clothing... ... which you totally can't notice because I wore the same two coats for 15 days straight lol)

Akiba, as some affectionally call it, is amazing. My boyfriend, being an electronics nerd, was happy as can be there. He bought some really weird circuits that I don't really know the use of. But he was gushing all over the place, saying "This is so cool and so cheap!". I have no idea.

^ possibly the lamest video ever of Akiba Denki Gai (electric town). I am very sorry for my poor documentation of this trip. I was overly eager and excited and barely took time to REALLY take good pictures. Luckily my boyfriend took some good ones. But I just suck.

I mean, erm, considering the bad weather.

I bought this game as soon as it came out in the US, lol. NO REGRETS. I love Pokémon.

Japanese UFO catchers have always been intriguing to me. I love the idea of a game that combines both luck and skill, and can get you nifty goodies you won't get anywhere else.

My bf and I stared at the locals playing for long whiles lol. We wanted to pick up the technique.

After a few days we tried out our skills in Shinjuku, and it turns out we weren't so bad! More on that later, of course :)

Then, some hipster pictures in the chikatetsu (subway).

 Ginza line took us to beautiful Asakusa.

Of course, if you are in Asakusa, you must visit Sensoji and Kaminarimon. A local friend recommended it, and I wasn't let down! It is breathtaking. We visited just after the snowfall, so it was all like a winter wonderland.

Kaminarimon, the gate to the thunder god. I read the other god featured is the wind god. Unfortunately the structure is rather new, because it has burned down and had to be reconstructed before D: but! That doesn't make it any less original or beautiful.

Praying at the shrine. You ought to throw a coin and pray.

 Light a candle for hope.

 I do not know much about buddhism, but I think this could be the Kannon of the Goddess of Mercy, for whom the temple is dedicated to. Her or His presence is a sight to be taken aback of. I never feel too much for this things but I truly felt tears coming whenever I saw a statue of any Buddhist deity. They have a timeless power and serenity. It's amazing.

Rising Sunday #2 - Akiba, Electric Town

teh weekend - sunday

Finally on Sunday, we could attend the "Anime Friends" convention.

I wasn't impressed at all. Let me tell you why :c

It was literally a sea of people out there. What's with people all coming to Buenos Aires for vacation? YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG GUYS, BUENOS AIRES IS CHILLY AND UGLY!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! To see the Iguazú Falls, at least -.-

On the bright side, I made a friend and got a lot of pictures taken. I wonder if people thought I was cosplaying or something? ... well, they're otakus, so they should know Lolita fashion, right?

I couldn't even eat without getting pictures taken. It didn't help that I was eating while standing up, because I didn't want to ruin my Angelic Pretty skirt (soooooooooo materialistic! LOL the things I do for you, AP)

The stands, though, weren't that great. They only sold manga... figurines... odd bondage clothes... and fake DVDs. Yup, FAKE Dvds. Dude, why should I even buy from you?? If I wanted fake DVDs I would make them myself (not saying that I do or ever did, though)

They also had a "maid café" in which they sold overpriced snacks and burgers. If you're going to charge me that much for a snack just because a maid is bringing it to my table... yeah... enough said.

The incredible amount of people lead to almost no pictures, excepting the ones people took of me, which I'll probably never see. I wonder what they'll say in their Facebook albums... "look at this cute girl I found", or maybe, "look at this freaking weirdo"??

teh weekend - saturday

Saturday morning I woke up to my alarm clock. Not the bestest way of waking up but oh well. I took a bath, got quickly dressed and proceeded to my Japanese classes. Here's what I looked like in the morning:

Cute gothy look. I wore a red cardigan and black coat, too. Also, a silver KEY choker around my neck. So freaking hardcore (just kidding). 

When the classes finished I walked home. My parents were just leaving, so to commemorate the amazing event of being home alone (again... j/k mom XD), I turned on the Wii and started playing Super Paper Mario. I was lying lazily on the couch when my boyfriend texted me, asking me if I wanted to go to this big animé convention that was taking place in Buenos Aires.

Sure, I said. He then told me to dress in my Lolita and be ready at 3 P.M. 

So I went from "gothicky" to super kawaii rainbow pastel princess in 3 seconds:

Finally we arrived at the con. A music show of sorts was taking place... and, gasp!! The capacity was exceeded for the day... no entry tickets were available D:

I was like WHYY WHY I SPENT AN HOUR TRYING TO LOOK THIS NICE!!

after some whining, my bf and I finally decided to buy tickets for the day after (Sunday). just so I could get the chance to finally attend a con after so many time of neglecting my OTAKU WEEABOO roots.

When we got home, we decided to go to the Abasto shopping mall and afterwards, have some sushi. So I went back to my old coordinate from the morning:

Yep, real original. At least I was wearing different outerwear and a different purse.Oh, and wait, I also changed the accesories! so shush shush

The mall was nightmare-ish. I had never seen so many scary-looking people in my whole life. There were just hundreds and hundreds of people, and all of them were the "don't-mess-with-me"-kind. We had coffee at Starbucks to escape from the angry mob. errr... but Starbucks was just as packed, anyways.

After all that suffering we finally got to eat sushi.

Seriously this has to be the best sushi in Buenos Aires. If there is one better, I've yet to find it.

The name of the place is Hikaru. We go there so often the waitresses even recognize us. So we'll have to do a separate post for them sometime soon! LOL
