Today I have an somewhat quality post for you guys and gals!
In case you don't know it, Jewelpet is an increasingly popular series realized by Sanrio and Sega (in fact, they are actually placing sixth on their character ranking). It's been made into various seasons of anime - and while I've yet to watch them, collecting character goods is somewhat my speciality (OwO)
I've scanned a bunch of stationary goods from the series, and decided to share them here! Some of it has text in Japanese so that's what I'll be translating.
To clarify, this post includes the following scans:
- Jewelpet Stationary Deco Seal, sparkly stickers to decorate your pencils, eraser, ruler and notebooks with
- Jewelpet school series Notebook, cover and back
- Jewelpet Stickers from their school series
- Jewelpet school series Flat Pencilcase, makes for a pretty wallpaper! :D
As always with my scan posts, right-click and open in a new window or tab to see them full-size.
Jewelpet Stationary Deco Seal
This set of stickers is so much more stunning in real life, but I think the scanner did a rather nice job. You can see they are extremely sparkly! The second scan is just the back side of the stickers, which I thought had a cute graphic that could also make a cute Photoshop brush. Just brainstorming here xD
Translating a bit of random text (some of these are a bit of own interpretation, because, after all, Japanese is linguistically ambiguous):
- "ぶんぼうぐをデコってみよっ": Let's try and decorate our stationary!
- As you can see from the shape, the first two are meant to put on your erasers' plastic case (that's what the text says).
- The second pair is for "putting on your personal belongings" (もちもの).
- ミラーみたいなシールだよ!: It's a mirror-like seal! Referring to the big heart. It actually is a bit mirrored, as you can see.
As you can see, there are six fortunes, one for each side of the pencil. I suppose you throw the pencil up in the air and the side up when it stops rolling is todays fortune, which read, from left to right:
- Will your eyes meet, perhaps!?
- A rival appears! (this is so cute)
- There will be an encounter!
- You are growing really near!
- In a pinch!
- Big chance!
These are absolutely adorable, haha. Also, because they are meant for kids, they are super easy to read and simply phrased. That is a plus hahaha.
The next fortunes are きょうのべんきょううん "Today's study fortune", meaning they are school-related.
Again, from left to right:
- Do your best!
- Your determination is swelling!!
- So-so...!?
- All's perfect!? (I wonder why the !?... maybe you need to be in doubt of such perfect conditions?! hahaha)
- Be careful about dozing off.
- Maybe everything will be just fine.
I love how most of these are really ambiguous. They are like "your grades will be good... OR WILL THEY?!", hahaha. I guess they don't want students to just trust their fortunes and slack off at school because of that.
Back to the other stickers... The three hexagon-shaped stickers are for the back of your pencils.
Right below those, the stickers on the bottom right are "index" stickers. I suppose you can fold them in the middle and use them to separate folders/subjects and such.
Finally, the rows of stickers on the bottom left are subject stickers, to mark all your school subjects.
The first four magenta ones are for Japanese Language Studies, the yellow ones next to them are Science. The next two teal stickers are Comprehension*. The four blue ones (right below Japanese) are Arithmetics. Two orange ones next to each-other are English. The only brown one is literally "Living"**. The two with green text and a teal-ish background are Home Economics. The only red one is literally "Morals" (I suppose it could be something like Ethic Studies?). The four green ones are "Society". The two light-blue stickers horizontal to each-other are "Music". The two lilac directly below those are "Drawing and Manual Arts". And the final blue ones vertical to one another are "Physical Education".
*"Sougou" is a special interdisciplinary subject in Japanese education. Literally it meants comprehension or synthesis, but it is really hard to translate. If I had to compare it to anything I would say it's kind of a scientific method class, but I'm not really sure!
**"Seikatsu", literally "living", is a field in social sciences, understanding the subjects as non-passive individuals that actively shape their lives. There is no subject that I can think of in my educational system that is similar to this one, so it's a bit hard for me to comprehend.
Jewelpet School Series
Just a note: I dubbed these "school series" because they have check/tartan uniform-like ribbons and a color pattern common to all of them, but the name I gave them is by no means official. Nothing to translate here so I'll just post them :)
Super pretty stickers!
The pencil pouch.
Two sides of the notebook, which is of unruled paper/general-purpose (じゆうちょう). The blank space is for putting your year (ねん), class(くみ) and name(なまえ).
I truly hope you have enjoyed this post! I also have Jewelpet activity book scans underway, I just need to finish translating and editing them. I first thought of adding them to this post but decided it would be better to group the two activity books together in one new post, as it will be easier for everyone to find later.
The books I'll be tackling are an unnamed activity book and the Tappuri Asoberu Morimori Memo. I hope you look forward to it!
