If noticed there is little to no information about this restaurant. The only websites I found are simple, "oh look it's an Alice themed restaurant" type of entries. So let's make a comprehensive, been-there-now-telling-you-about-it entry.
Alice in Labyrinthland (at least that is my translation of the restaurant's name, lol) is part of the Diamond Fantasy Dining group. You can check the official website here, in case you are curious about the menu. It is close by the Ginza station. I took the subway there, you just have to watch what exit you come out of! I don't remember it exactly, but I think it was exit A or B out of the subway. If you visit Ginza, you will probably pass it by though, since it's located in the big central avenue.
It's on the fifth floor of the Taiyou building. Erm, I know this information makes no sense. Making sense of addresses in Tokyo is very complicated. You are better off looking at the map, which their official website provides. Just in case, though, you have to look for a long sign attached to the side of a building. It says "5F 迷宮の国のアリス" in white letters and blue background.
Enter the building. There are no doors, lol. So make your way to the end of the tiny hallway and to the elevator. Press 5th floor. And then, suddenly be amazed when another person next to you stops in one of the lower floors, which houses a Bollywood-style Hindu restaurant with gold fountains. I really should have visited that one as well. It looked funky! haha
Then, arrive at the fifth floor... and find out you are there too early and leave, LOL. This happened to me the first time. The second time, I had no reservation, because I never thought I would need it. Silly me! Luckily the hostess, clad in her Mad Hatter outfit, was lovely and reserved a table for me for the day after.
SO! Arrive a third time. And finally, Jesus Christ, go in!!!
(if you hadn't realized, I am trying to tell you this - make a reservation and be there after 5p.m., or else you are not going in. You can do some depressed shopping in the Ginza Toy Palace outside to ease your woes about not getting to dine there, though, hehehe)
It truly is a Labyrinth. Big storybook panels guide you through narrow pathways which lead you to your dining room. It has different sections and you are only allowed to see one per visit. Since you are escorted throughout the labyrinth, you can't choose where you will eat. And, the other sections are blocked from sight by the storybook panels. Sigh :( I wanted to see them all!
I got the trump cards and tea cup room.
Or, you can also check out this picture, which I didn't take so it looks a heck lot more professional.
I am very jealous of whoever took this. My pictures don't do the place justice, it just looks dark and out of focus heheheh.
But, I will pierce your eyes with my pictures nonetheless.
My boyfriend who is almost blocked by the menu, and because of that, this is the only picture of him I am allowed to post, lol. Though I didn't ask for permission.
My happy, finally-got-there face.
The place, being 5.30pm, was empty. I swear I don't usually dine so early, but the cold weather in Japan was unbearable, so we had to dine as early as possible and make a run for it as soon as the sun started setting in.
But the good part is we had the waitress just for us. She was dressed in a high-heeled Alice ensemble, and was very cordial and sweet. The food was out super fast too! So I guess our old-person dining habits paid off.
The drinks menu served with a Mad Hatter theme. Awwww.
And in this box, all the menus came in, neatly folded! Amazing.
I took pictures of just about everything.
We ordered a Lemon Basil Salmon for starters.
It came with bread and cheese spread (that rhymed). Of course I stuffed the EAT ME in my purse as fast as I could. I suspect they don't mind you grabbing it, since it's just a piece of paper - but it's so darling, I had to have it.
Then we ordered the Cheshire Fusili with Bacon Cream sauce. Its eyes were hard eggs and olives, cherry tomato nose, and its smile was made out of balsamic vinaigrette. BEST PASTA EVER. Though you will probably hear me falling in love with food every single time I taste something nice, LOL.
My mouth was so happy I took it to Alice in Labyrinthland. Every single flavor was in place. To me, the taste of the food and the presentation were worth every single penny I spent there.
We ordered a coconut milk Acai non-alcoholic cocktail just for fun. It was amazingly good, too. And I don't usually like these kind of weird fruit drinks. But it had a fresh coconut taste, maybe with a little pineapple and some tropical fruits, and very lightly sweetened. Loved it!
And finally, dun dun dun... Tea Party Dessert Trio. You have the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter, all recreated in soft scone-type minicakes and whipped cream. The perfect light companion for a cup of tea. We didn't actually get any (tea, I mean), but it was yummy nonetheless. And definitely the cutest piece in terms of food arrangement. I squealed when they brought it to the table.
So there you have it!!
If you are ever in Tokyo, Alice in Labyrinth (as some call it) is a wonderful experience. I am a huge Alice junkie so of course I had to go there, or else I would have died. It also has Forest, White Queen, King and Queen of Hearts, and Cheshire Cat rooms. I think I need to see them all before I can call my life complete.
What do you think? Would you like to go there?
